My band was hired to back up Chuck Berry in Duluth Minn. Back in 2006 at a huge festival. Chuck was the only act with tickets sold. On the day if his show they only sold about 25 tickets. His contract was always the same. He got 10k up front so when they asked to cancel the show, he gave them the option: perform anyway and get his 10k balance or cancel, and he stays home and pockets the deposit 10k. This proved very profitable for him.
